PACITA, SAN PEDRO | Rev Fr. Jorge Seldon Coronado –Pacita’s parish priest receives a copy of the City Council Resolution presented by the Honorable Bernadeth Olivares - City Council’s Chairperson on Tourism,Culture and Arts during the Hermanos’ y Hermanas’ Mass on October 20 - the Forty-First Solemnity of the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary of Pacita.

By virtue of the said ResolutionNo. 2024-198, approved and adopted on October 1, 2024, the Church of Santo Rosario in Barangay Pacita 1 and the image of its revered patroness are now enlisted as Important Cultural Properties of the City of San Pedro.

The said recognition is in accordance with Republic Act No: 11961 otherwise known as “An Act Strengthening the Conservation and Protection of Philippine Cultural Heritage Program through Cultural Mapping and Enhanced Cultural Heritage Education Program.”

The Venerable Image of Our Lady of Pacita

The significant facts gathered by the mappers of the Grupo Kalinangan Inc. manifested that the church edifice of Santo Rosario is the first parish church in the City of San Pedro with the Blessed Virgin Mary as its titular patroness, thus the center of Marian Devotion; the first parish church in the Province of Laguna that is dedicated according to the rites of the Roman Catholic Church in December 6, 1986; the first parish church in Laguna and third in the Philippines to have a modern and functioning electronic Carillon Bells system in its belfry; and the only parish church in Laguna that operates using solar energy.

Moreover, the image of the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary holds the distinction of being the first Marian image in the City of San Pedro ever to be revered as a parish titular patroness. It has also witnessed the societal growth of Barangay Pacita 1 and has served as a unifying instrument for the locals.

The Barangay Pacita 1 Council firstrecognized the said cultural properties at the barangay level on June 5, 2023, through Barangay Council Resolution Numbers 23-152 and 23-153.
